Importance Of Following Before And After Treatment Directions
In an ideal world, all of our patients would have excellent oral health and never need dental treatment other than routine examinations and cleanings. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Fortunately, we offer a number of restorative, preventative, and cosmetic dentistry treatments to restore and improve your oral health. If we recommend a dental treatment, it is extremely important to schedule an appointment to receive the procedure in a timely fashion. Failure to do so can lead to serious complications with your oral health and possibly the need for additional or more intensive treatments. Beyond scheduling your appointment, it is also critical to follow any before and after-care instructions for your treatment and recovery. Not doing so can cause serious complications with your oral and overall health.
Importance of Following Directions
We have been following directions our entire lives. Just as in any other circumstance, it is extremely important to follow the directions we provide before and after treatment. It is also essential that you update us on any changes to your medical history before we begin any treatment, even if it is only a cleaning.
Our instructions before and after treatment ensure that you remain healthy and safe from complications. There are some patients who need to take medication prior to receiving any form of dental treatment. If this step is skipped, it can lead to complications, such as infection. There are other patients who may need to stop taking medications to ensure they do not bleed more than normal during treatment.
We understand that everyone heals differently, and you know your body best. That being said, it is still important to follow our after-treatment instructions. If you do not, the treatment could fail, requiring us to redo the procedure or add another treatment, which would end up costing you more.
If you have an upcoming treatment or have just completed a treatment and have questions related to your care, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office located on the Upper East Side.
